Plettenberg Bay boasts a great variety of vegetation types and habitats. Because of this there is a wide variety of bird life. There are currently seven different species of Sunbirds that one needs to look out for.
Collared Sunbirds are more likely to be seen in the forest while others such as Orange-Breasted and Southern Double Collared Sunbirds are more likely to be seen in the Fynbos. The Greater Double-collared and Amethyst Sunbirds can be seen in a wide variety of habitats.
The Grey Sunbird is not commonly seen and great care should be taken so as not to confuse it with females of other sunbirds species.
Please let me know if you have seen any other sunbirds that I have not listed.
